Brazil to grant 230,000 patents

With the current staff of 324 patent examiners in Brazil it would take 13 years to eliminate the current backlog. The Brazilian government is proposing to grant 230,000 non-pharmaceutical patents immediately in an emergency catch-up measure. Applicants can opt-out and third parties can file pre-grant oppositions. (read more)
