A trademark that immediately describes the nature or objective of the underlying product or service. Merely descriptive trademarks may be registered on the Supplemental Register with somewhat reduced legal rights. Alternatively, merely descriptive trademarks may achieve Secondary Meaning (2F filing) in the minds of consumers and thus be registered on the Primary Register.
