Inventor's Notebook

A record kept by an inventor that is witnessed by others. The purpose of an inventor's notebook is to help an inventor prove the date of conception of an invention and diligence in pursuing the invention after conception. The witness should have no financial interest in the invention or other bias and should also have a technical understanding of the invention. "Read and understood by me on (date)" is the standard language the witness should use before the witness signature.
