The four major patenting institutions in Florida are generally trending to a higher frequency of patent grants from 2007 through 2010. Current 2011 projects appear consistent with this trend.
Methodogy: Data was extracted from the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office Patent Full Text and Image Database. The queries were run for the institution as the assignee over an entire year. For example, to pull all issued 2008 patents for the University of South Florida (USF), the following query was executed:
