Office 2003 Generates PASAT Error

When upgrading to Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 we installed Outlook 2003 onto the workstation normally used for authoring applications in PASAT.  However, immediately after the installation, the Visual Basic macros used in PASAT generated error messages and no new applications could be authored using Word 2000.

A complete removal of Outlook 2003 still was not effective in correcting the problem.  In fact, the entire machine had to be reformatted and Word 2000 reinstalled.

The error was reported to the USPTO Electronic Filing Help Line.  No response has yet been received from the developers after three months.

Conclusion:  Unless a new release is provided for PASAT, we recommend against installing Office 2003 on the same machine.
